چکیده

Postero-anterior films of the chest frequently fall to reveal satisfactory evidence of the pathology which may be present. To obtain a better perspective of the lung lesions, it is often necessary to resort to lordotic and oblique films. The value of such positional roentgenograms, however, has been limited because the importance of definite methods of standardizing these films has not received sufficient consideration. Sherman W. Atwell’ recently stressed the importance of standardized oblique roentgenography of the chest, and observed that properly positioned oblique films can “open” obscure areas of the hllum, apex, and other parts of the lung. He has described an apparatus for standardizing films in the oblique projection.

Impact of Various Image Reconstruction Methods on Joint Compensation of Respiratory Motion and Partial Volume Effects in Whole-Body 18F-FDG PET/CT Imaging: Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Background: The present study aims to assess the impact of various image reconstruction methods in 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging on the quantification performance of the proposed technique for joint compensation of respiratory motion and partial volume effects (PVEs) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Materials and Methods: An image-based deconvolution technique was proposed, incorporating w...

The value of portable chest roentgenography in adult respiratory distress syndrome. Comparison with computed tomography.

In 17 patients with adult respiratory distress syndrome, we used data derived from computed tomographic (CT) scan densitometric analysis to validate the value of portable chest roentgenograms in objectively estimating the amount of pulmonary edema. Chest roentgenograms and CT scans were taken in the same ventilatory conditions (apnea at 10 cm H2O of positive end-expiratory pressure [PEEP]); blo...

Long-term effects of orthodontic forces on the morphology of the rat-incisor socket and its location in the mandible.

The effect of orthodontic force application on the rat-incisor socket and mandible was studied on roentgenograms. A mean linguo-intrusive force of 19 +/- 0.6 g was applied continuously to the shortened left lower incisor for a period of two (group A) and four weeks (group B). A third group of rats, subjected to shortening of the left mandibular incisor only, served as a hypofunctional control (...

Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Lung Lesions using Multiple Phase 3D-CT Based on the Analysis of Radiobiological Parameters

Introduction: Planning target volume (PTV) is generated from internal treatment volume (ITV) using four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT) for enhanced therapeutic gain in the stereotactic body radiotherapy for lung lesions (SBRT-Lung). This study aimed to propose a strategy to generate ITV on multiple-phase 3D-CT and enhance therapeutic gain in SBRT-Lung. <stron...

Investigation of lung normal tissue doses in lung tumors radiation therapy using both gated and conventional radiotherapy

Introduction: In radiation therapy of lung tumors, respiratory motion causes target moving, so a larger margin is needed to cover the clinical target volume (CTV). With the margin increasing, a larger volume of normal tissue will be exposed to high-dose.  In this study, dosimetric parameters of normal lung tissue were compared between gated and conventional radiotherapy (RT), u...
